Vol. 30 No. 3 (2023): Bion: Transformations, Evolutions and Expansions I

In celebration of thirty years of the publication of the Revista de Psicanálise da SPPA, two decades after the Special Section on Bion, Bion Commented - Part 1, Bion Commented - Part 2 and Bion Commented - Part 3, and attentive to the continued interest and propagation of studies on the work of Bion and his followers, we propose the publication of a new volume with the following thematic focus: Bion: Transformations, Evolutions and Expansions.

Considering the challenges we currently face from incessant changes – climate, social, public health, political, institutional, religious, technological ... – as well as identities and their psychic demands, we think it is opportune to reflect on the concept of transformations introduced by Bion (1965).

Our aim is to publish and become familiar with developments that have evolved and expanded from Transformations (1965) and its constants, ideas that continue to resonate and influence contemporary psychoanalysis.

Since his initial works published in Experiences in Groups (1948-1951), Bion has left us a wealth of reflections from his personal experiences. His originality continues to challenge us to reflect on the psychoanalytic encounter in its dimension of “at-one-ment,” enriching psychoanalytic thought and practice.

In recovering, updating and transforming, we hope that this issue will offer readers new vertices, augmented and multifocal perspectives, in addition to integrating different productions that contribute to the dissemination of theoretical and clinical developments and research related to the theme.
