The conception of an unconscious phenomenon as the center of psychic reality and its systematization structured Freud's theorization and that of his followers, placing psychoanalysis as a unique thought, distinct from all other areas of human knowledge.
As it is a defining term, it is confused with the very essence of psychoanalysis. The evolution of psychoanalytic theories, however, with their different prisms, varied internal logics and diverse readings, interacting with the development of other areas of knowledge and associated with the study of more regressive pathologies and mental phenomena both more primitive and complex, brings tensions. to the concept that demand reflection on its unity and coherence.
