Abstract

The author proposes to discuss his conception of the self concerning the Theory of Generalized Seduction. Contrary to the differentiated conception of self and Ego, it takes the self as coming from the primary contact of the individual’s biological needs with enigmatic sexual messages from the other, constituting in an internal paraexcitation to unconscious residues (objects source of drive) resulting from the partial translation of said messages. The self assumes and dynamizes the adaptive mechanisms of the biological individual, besides to providing them with their own intrinsic elements of connection, culturally acquired throughout their development.
