Trauma transformations and non-transformations and prosthetic thoughts

Using a clinical case, the author seeks to illustrate the evolution of the "language" of a patient with symbolization deficiencies, from what has been called the "language of the act" to the "language of success," when the patient can find symbolic forms to begin transforming primitive traumatic experiences. Furthermore, by understanding trauma as that which cannot be symbolically transformed and inserted into the psychic fabric, he proposes that we experience "microtraumas" throughout life, as there is always a wealth of new emotional experiences to be symbolically transformed. Likewise, the analyst must allow themselves to be "microtraumatized" in the session to be able to give a thinkable sense to the emotional experiences shared with their patient.
