Ser uma mulher? O ponto de vista de uma psicanalista
Abstract
The author noted that when her analysees define womanhood only in the negative (a woman is a man without a penis), they are overwhelmed by the “penis envy”, so well evidenced by Freud. Often do they experiment feelings of disappointment, shame and guilt. Soon these analysees become aware of the fact that their not having “one” of the two sexes allows them to have the “other”. It is the presence of their feminine sex that defines them as women, and no longer only the absence of masculine sex. That is how these analysees join a new fantastic reality, in search of hidden feminine riches.
