Again: Why War?

The author describes and analyzes some of the artistic productions that address war, especially the television series Games of Thrones. Subsequently, the author examines relevant contributions from Freud, Green and Arendt that help to identify the presence of the death drive and its consequences in situations of war, violence, and toxic polarizations, past and present. The author highlights some international and national initiatives, as well as within the psychoanalytic field, that countered such threats, managing – as much as possible – to allow the life drive to prevail.
