Resumo

Aqui é apresentada uma visão ampla dos desafios e controvérsias atuais sobre a psicanálise como uma ciência, teorias psicanalíticas concorrentes, tendências convergentes e divergentes na técnica psicanalítica, educação psicanalítica, psicanálise como profissão. Entre outras questões sublinhadas estão a importância da relação entre a psicanálise e a Universidade, as implicações de pesquisa de orientações teóricas e técnicas concorrentes, a necessidade de reexaminar a estrutura da educação psicanalítica, e a importância da fertilização cruzada internacional na expansão da aplicação da psicanálise a outros campos.
